One of the most prominent Norwegian black metal bands of the 2000s was formed in 2004 from the ashes of the legendary Windir. Vreid's trademark became combining classic black metal with sounds from 70s rock and 80s metal – or "black'n'roll." They have released nine strong albums to date, including the classic concept album Milorg (2009) about the Norwegian resistance movement during World War II. Since there have only been two singles since then, many are delighted that Vreid is now back in action and, as it appears, will be appearing at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2026.
