Nemis Band of the Year ready for Sweden Rock Festival 2025

For the 18th year in a row, Sweden Rock Festival is pleased to present a broad and strong Nemis program, with everything from 60s-scented psychedelic rock to modern metalcore. Nemis (New Music In Sweden) is Studiefrämjandets live scene for new Swedish music and artists on the rise, something that Sweden Rock Festival believes is important to continue to be part of and build. It is now a long-standing tradition for the festival, and with it also a very appreciated feature of the audience.

Nemis as a concept has existed since 2006 and is today a natural element at many Swedish festivals. The stage at Sweden Rock Festival is the most long-lived of them all and with that in mind, it is extra fun that the interest in Nemis this year has been greater than ever. The number of applications increased significantly from previous years, with over 300 applications for this year's festival, and that so many people want to play at Sweden Rock Festival is of course an honor, but also a mark of quality for the bands that come all the way. The trend also indicates that we are seeing a Swedish rock scene with strong growth, which of course feels good for the genre and the fans.

In the selection process, Studiefrämjandets focus has been to highlight new bands and artists that stand out in different ways, while half of the selected acts should preferably be equal, female-dominated or fronted by a woman. This year, Nemis will once again be at the Pistonhead Stage on Thursday, June 5.

NEMIS-BANDS AT SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL 2025:

Since their inception in 2017, Battering Ram has been one of those bands that fights its way into the rock scene through hard and persistent work. Heavy swing, persistent riffing and strong melodies have led to a steadily growing fan base. They describe their music as classic hard rock with a modern sound and have been compared to everything from legends like Saxon and Judas Priest to a Mustasch in top form. While waiting for the third full-length album, two singles have been released and these have raised expectations for the album release. The battering ram seems to be here to stay.

Donnatellus has a timeless sound that is heavily inspired by the adventurous and free spirit of classic rock - often delivered with a heaviness that belongs in early heavy metal. Their songs combine creative arrangements with strong melodies and a voice that immediately sticks in the mind. Or as Sweden Rock Magazine put it: "Donnatellus manages the feat of being quirky, fresh and totally retro at the same time." It's a telling summary that really captures the essence of Donnatellus.

Goodnight Greatness was formed out of the Stockholm underground scene, driven by a desire to create something raw and real. The band members were originally total strangers who found each other through an advertisement and from there a collaboration developed based on the common love of metal and unfiltered emotions. The band's music combines beautiful melodies with powerful breakdowns and intense energy. The lyrics touch on deep and sometimes uncomfortable topics such as mental illness, self-image and the freedom to embrace one's own individuality, while challenging the listener to reflect on life from a larger perspective. Live, they deliver an explosive and dynamic show that leaves room for both fun and reflection.

Guenna from Malmö is a band on the rise after releasing their debut album "Peak of Jin'Arrah" last year, which was praised by Aftonbladet's Sofia Bergström. The music is packed with adventurous melodies combined with heavy stoner-style riffs, odd time signatures, porky drum comps, epic song arrangements and, not least, their unique vocals that are reminiscent of 70s progressive rock. Nick Oliveri (Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age) described Guenna as "if YES played heavy stoner music!" after he saw the band open for his band STÖNER. Whether you're a fan of Tool, Mastodon, YES or Opeth, Guenna is probably the band for you.

Nephila is a Swedish band formed in 2019 and characterized by a mix of 60s and 70s folk rock and progressive rock, with elements of blues and psychedelia. The band's debut album was nominated for Rock/Metal of the Year 2022 at P3 Guld. With the follow-up, the band has now evolved, peeled off its musical skin and revealed something deeper. The soul of the album has been taken from the sagas of Skogsrån - the seductive forest creature in Nordic folklore. Skogsrån is both muse and storyteller throughout the album; she protects her kingdom and lures wanderers astray.

The Mind Palace combines the power of modern hard rock with elements of 70s and 80s rock. With a big, powerful sound and uncompromising arrangements, the band's music explores themes of the occult and the mystical. Inspired by bands like Ghost, Year of the Goat, Blues Pills and Lucifer, The Mind Palace combines classic rock rawness with a contemporary edge. They debuted in May 2024 with the single "Vol. I" and played their first gig the same year. This was followed by a new single and a music video. They are currently in the studio recording a full-length album to be released in 2025.

From the dark streets of Hedemora comes Tryin' Within, a metalcore band that combines brutal riffs with melodies, powerful lyrics and massive choruses. It started with a bunch of friends playing together for fun, but a few years later they took the plunge and formed Tryin' Within. The band released their first single in 2019 and followed up with their debut album "All That I Am" in December 2020. Since then, the band has released another album, several singles and along the way, singer Frida was also recruited, which has given the band's sound even more dynamics and breadth. With an impressive stage presence and a passion for delivering an unforgettable experience, Tryin' Within is the band to experience live.

After a period of silence, Unfound Reliance rose from the ashes in 2019 and released the EP "A Layered Mind", which gave the band a long-awaited push in the right direction. In 2021, the band then released their debut album "We Are The Plague", which was also warmly received. Unfound Reliance mixes melodic choruses with brutal growls and neck-breaking riffs. Since their inception, they have opened for In Flames and Cannibal Corpse, among others, making them a well-oiled live band. In 2025, the band will release a number of singles leading us to the release of the new album "A New Age". Warm up your neck and get ready for the reindeer!
