Denmark’s Volbeat have become one of the biggest metal bands of the North, and the world, by doing their own unique thing. From the 2005 debut ”The strength/The sound/The songs” to their 2025 ninth album ”God of angels trust” they have combined fat metal riffs with the melodic groove of country, 50s rock and more. The latter elements are, obviously, amplified by Michael Poulsen’s unique vocal style. Volbeat’s hits are by now almost innumerable – ”A warrior’s call”, ”Heaven nor hell”, ”Still counting” and most recently ”Time will heal” are just a few examples – and they are preferably to be enjoyed live, since Poulsen is also a topnotch audience communicator.
