Many would have mistaken Apocalyptica for a one-time novelty when they released "Plays Metallica by four cellos" in 1996, the title describing the content exactly. But no. The album was a success, Apocalyptica proved their ability to write their own material, and became one of Finland's biggest metal bands, selling over four million records to date. Their symphonic metal on cello, without guitar or bass, has produced hits like "I'm not Jesus", "End of me" and "I don't care". Following all this success with their own material, in 2024 Apocalyptica released their tenth album as another tribute to their past, "Plays Metallica, vol 2".
