The godfathers of black metal – that’s as legendary as it gets. Britain’s Venom, with singer/bassist Cronos front and center, rewrote the playbook for primitive, merciless metal on albums like ”Welcome to hell” (1981), ”Black metal” (1982) and ”At war with Satan” (1984). And they just kept going from there. Venom’s new album ”Into oblivion” is as uncompromisingly maniacal as ever, and their concerts remain epic happenings with a volcanic atmosphere. This being their first Sweden Rock appearance in nine years will hardly make the event less tumultuous.
