Children of Bodom

The death of Alexi Laiho in 2020 ended an era in Finnish metal. With Laiho as their singer, guitarist and chief composer, Children of Bodom produced ten studio albums between 1997 and 2009 that helped reshape the landscape of melodic death metal. In 2025, the four surviving original members and frontman Samy Elbanna (Lost Society) made two tribute concerts to Laiho in Helsinki, under the old name. These were a massive success, and the same lineup now returns for select concerts (hint, hint!) to celebrate the 30th anniversary in 2027. So we also will once more be treated to songs like ”Downfall”, ”Everytime I die”, ”Are you dead yet?”, et al, under emotional circumstances in memory of Laiho.
